〜はもちろん
…goes without saying, and even…machine translation
FormationNoun + はもちろん、… + も
A はもちろん、B も: "A goes without saying, and even B too." A is the obvious case anyone would guess, and B extends it one step further: 彼女は平仮名はもちろん、難しい漢字も読める (hiragana goes without saying — she can even read difficult kanji). Clause B almost always contains も.
The pattern is fine in both speech and writing; the more formal version is はもちろんのこと. The logical order must be right: the obvious item goes before はもちろん and the surprising one after — reversing them makes the sentence absurd.
Compared with two patterns in the same neighborhood: ばかりか also stacks B on top of A but doesn't imply A is a given, and is more literary; をはじめ takes A as a representative example of a whole list rather than contrasting "obvious vs. beyond that." These three patterns often appear side by side in N3 grammar-choice questions.
