お〜になる
General honorific patternmachine translation
Formationお + verb ます-form (drop ます) + になる (帰ります→お帰りになる); Sino-Japanese words: ご + verbal noun + になる (ご利用になる)
お〜になる is an honorific formula that works for most verbs: take the ます-form, drop ます, and sandwich it between お and になる — 帰ります→お帰りになります (the esteemed person goes home), 読みます→お読みになります, 待ちます→お待ちになります. Sino-Japanese 〜する verbs use ご: ご利用になる、ご説明になる. Its formality is higher than れる・られる, lower than the special verbs.
Two limits to remember. One: verbs that already have a special honorific form must use that form — 見る→ご覧になる, not ×お見になる; する→なさる, not ×おしになる. Two: verbs whose pre-ます part is only one syllable can't enter this pattern — います、着ます、寝ます (there is no ×お寝になる); for these, use the special form or れる・られる instead.
This pattern shares its mold with the two patterns beside it: swap になる for ください and you get the respectful request お〜ください; swap in する and you get the humble pattern お〜する — but pointing in the opposite direction. Look at the end of the sentence to see who is being elevated: お帰りになりました means THE ESTEEMED PERSON went home; お送りします means I will humbly see them home.
