〜てみる

〜てみる means trying something to see how it turns out, much like "thử… xem" ("give it a try and see") in Vietnamese: 着てみる (try on), 食べてみる (try eating), 行ってみる (go and see what it's like).

みる here is written in hiragana and conjugates just like the ordinary verb 見る, so you can combine it with patterns you've learned: 〜てみたい (want to try), 〜てみてください (please try), 〜てみましょう (let's try), 〜てみてもいいですか (may I try?).

Note: 〜てみる is only for deliberate, intentional actions — "doing in order to find out". To say "try it a little", combine both: ちょっと着てみてください — 〜てみる is still the part carrying the meaning "try and see".
