〜ところです

ところ originally means "place," but in the pattern 〜ところです it refers to the "point in time" of an action. The meaning changes with the verb form before it: dictionary form + ところです — about to do, on the point of doing (これから作るところです: I'm just about to cook); ている-form + ところです — doing it right now (しているところです); た-form + ところです — just finished doing it this moment (着いたところです).

This pattern is very common on the phone or when someone asks "what are you doing?": 今から出るところです (I'm just about to leave the house now).

〜たところです and 〜たばかりです both mean "just finished," but 〜たところです is only used at the very moment something ended, while 〜たばかりです can be used even after some time has passed — see the 〜たばかり pattern.
